Quick and Creamy Herb Dip

Jump to Recipe

Today I have got another dip for you.  This one is super easy and pairs great with unsalted potato chips or fresh cut veggies.   A simple combination of goat cheese, sour cream, Herbs de Provence, fresh ground black pepper, and green onion come together to form a creamy, satisfying dip.

Low Sodium Goat Cheese Dip

Herbs de Provence is a key ingredient of this dip and is one of my favorite spices. I use it often – it is great for dips, sauteed mushrooms, roasted vegetables, and more.  It has a great savory flavor that is really wonderful in low sodium recipes (where we are always seeking more robust flavors to replace salt).

Low Sodium Goat Cheese Dip

On a final note, Joe’s favorite unsalted potato chips are Tim’s Cascade – they are super crunchy and less greasy than some of the other options out there.  Speaking of other options, we occasionally buy Kettle Brand Unsalted Potato Chips, which a good alternative if you can’t find Tim’s.

A quick and easy dip that pairs great with unsalted potato chips and fresh sliced vegetables.

SODIUM COUNT: 52.9 mg per serving; 211.5 mg in the whole batch

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ounces goat cheese*
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 green onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tsp Herbs de Provence
  • fresh ground black pepper (to taste)
  • unsalted potato chips or fresh sliced vegetables (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Place the goat cheese and sour cream in a bowl and stir until it reaches a smooth consistency.
  2. Add the green onion, Herbs de Provence, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
  3. Serve with unsalted potato chips or fresh sliced veggies. Note that chips/veggies are not included in the nutritional value.

Notes

* The goat cheese I used had 40 mg sodium per ounce.

NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION Yield: 4 servings (roughly ¼ cup per serving)
Sodium: 52.9 mg, Calories: 123.5, Total Fat: 10.0 g, Saturated Fat: 6.6 g, Cholesterol: 30.6 mg, Carbohydrates: 2.5 g, Fiber: 0.1 g, Sugar: 0.3 g, Protein: 5.8 g.

We like the dip to be very thick. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add a bit more sour cream.  Remember that doing so will change the nutritional value.

Oh, hi there!

I love tinkering in the kitchen. I am incapable of seeing a recipe and making it as-is. This tendency to tweak recipes has come in handy in adapting our family favorites to be low sodium-friendly. Read More…
